I-93 & I-95 Interchange Reconstruction

Project Overview:

As part of the Rte. 128 Add-a-Lane Project, this interstate highway & bridge construction project included multi-phase replacement of 3 bridges over the Neponset River, Amtrack Railroad and University Avenue in Canton/Dedham, as well as widening the highway and realigning ramps.

The work included the complete demolition of five bridges, installation of 21,000 feet of precast concrete pile, construction of 16,140 square feet of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall and the construction of 10,000 cubic yards of (MSE) geogrid slope.  

Key Challenges Overcome:

This project was phase 2 of 6 in a $315M MassDOT project to widen 14.3 miles from six lanes to eight lanes.
