District 4 Deck Repairs: Lexington & Medford (Rte 4, 28, 16)

Project Overview:

Bridge wearing surface replacement, including deck repairs to extend service life of bridges throughout the District 4 Deck Repairs: Lexington – Rte 4 over Rte 128; Medford – Rte 28 over Panam RR; and Medford – Rte 16 over Mystic River.

Above projects consisted of removing all existing asphalt, performing nightly deck repairs to improve condition of the entire deck, and placing new asphalt.  All work was performed during nightly closures to minimize traffic impacts on the traveling public.

Interesting Facts / Figures

The contract required the use of waterproof asphalt, which eliminates the need for waterproofing membrane while still preserving the bridge deck concrete.
