Project Overview
Project Overview:
The scope of work includes full concrete bridge deck replacement of the Dalton St Bridge over I-90, MBTA, and Cambria Street in Boston MA in (2) two phases over a project duration of 18 months. Work includes:
- Demolition of concrete bridge deck
- Cleaning and painting of all structural steel girders
- Replacement of all bridge bearings
- Structural steel repairs
- Forming and placement of new concrete bridge deck and sidewalks
- Installation of new bridge railing and protective fence
- Installation of new traffic signals
- Replacement of approach concrete sidewalks and wheelchair ramps
- Milling and paving of bridge approaches
Key Challenges Overcome:
Bridge deck replacement project located in a dense urban downtown location has many logistical challenges including limited work areas and heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Existing utilities located in 8 of the 10 each girder bays are an additional challenge to safety work around.
